The cooking is a particular attraction
and Hazel produces a fine range of traditional set five-course English
Dinners, with local ingredients wherever possible. Starters may be Liver
Pate with Port Jelly followed by cream of Fennel Soup. Main Courses are
usually roasts - Pheasant, Lamb, Duckling or possibly locally caught
Salmon.
Puddings are a specialty and are
traditional - Spotted Dick with Custard, Ginger Pudding with Butterscotch
Sauce or something lighter such as Syllabub, Crème Brulee etc. Local and
traditional cheeses round
off the meal.
It would be helpful if you could advise us of any special dietary
requirements.
For special occasions we can also arrange a champagne tray and flowers to
be waiting in your room on arrival.

Inside
the house on the first floor all bedrooms have ensuite facilities (and
magnificent views).
'Low
Fell' is a large double/twin with ensuite bath and views across the valley
to Low Fell In the West.
'The
Stable'
is on the ground floor and has a king sized solid oak four
poster bed with double airbath looking to Fellbarrow to the west.
'Whiteside'
has a large double brass bed with airbath and looks to Dodd and Whiteside to the East.
'Swinside' is a double with ensuite
double power shower and from the window seat is a good view of Swinside
covered in heather. (Swinside incidentally supplies us with our own Spring
water).
  The
'Old Dairy' has a Queen sized solid oak four poster bed with uninterrupted
views of Fellbarrow and Low Fell, it also has a large Victorian style
bathroom with a spacious double ended slipper bath. (Click

Outside
are 15 acres of open fields, woods, streams and ponds which guests may
wander around with any dogs which may be staying. Guests can also enjoy
a relaxing Hot Spring Spa in our garden.
We
also have a stable block and guests who wish to bring their own horse are
welcome to do so.
There are spectacular views all around, particularly of Swinside and Dodd
glowing red on a late summers evening.
For those driving, Keswick, Cockermouth
and the West Coast towns are easy to get to.
